Nearsighted children tend to become more nearsighted each year. We can help with that progression.
We help concerned parents of nearsighted children limit the worsening of their child’s vision, ensuring healthier eyes and better vision.
Cary Family Eye Care is a family-owned, independent eye care practice located in West Cary, NC. We are not a chain- we have been part of the local community in Cary since 2008. The office is owned by husband and wife optometrists Dr. Dwight Barnes and Dr. Kelly Barnes.
Our Overnight Sight program has helped hundreds of young patients stabilize their myopia progression. In Overnight Sight, a corneal mold similar to a rigid contact lens is worn overnight while sleeping. The corneal mold gently reshapes the cornea, resulting in clear vision throughout the day without the use of glasses or contact lenses. Research has shown that Overnight Sight significantly slows the rate of myopia progression.
Overnight Sight is an FDA-approved vision treatment. Patients wear custom therapeutic corneal molds that correct their blurry vision while they sleep by gently reshaping the surface of their eyes.
Overnight Sight is an FDA-approved therapy for all ages that is non-invasive, non-surgical, safe, and effective. The ideal candidate for Overnight Sight is a nearsighted patient, with or without low to moderate amounts of astigmatism.
You don’t have to just watch your child continue to become more nearsighted.

If you currently rely on these devices, then you are familiar with the inconvenience and discomfort they can bring. Overnight Sight is especially liberating for people who enjoy sports, swimming, the outdoors, and other active hobbies. No need to worry about losing glasses or contact lenses drying out.
Unlike LASIK, Overnight Sight is non-invasive, reversible, and does not interfere with the integrity of the surface of the eyes. If needed in the future, the design of the molds can be modified to ensure vision stays clear.
Nearsightedness is a condition that worsens over time. Overnight Sight has been proven to slow down that progression. We believe every nearsighted child should be given the opportunity to slow or stop the progression of myopia.

Higher amounts of nearsightedness increase the risk of several ocular health issues including retinal detachment, cataract, and myopic retinal degeneration. By slowing the progression of myopia, you can significantly reduce your risk for these conditions.
Research shows that children who are nearsighted typically worsen over time.
The rate of myopia in the United States rose from 25% in 1971 to 41% in 2004, and it continues to grow. Higher amounts of myopia (nearsightedness) lead to an increased risk of glaucoma, cataract, retinal detachment, and myopic degeneration.
Fortunately, you do not have to just watch your child continue to become more nearsighted. We now have the technology to slow this progression and, in some cases, stop it altogether. Myopia control techniques such as Overnight Sight (ONS) have been shown to slow the progression of myopia, resulting in lower prescriptions and healthier eyes.
